Golden Days is a summer celebration commemorating the discovery of gold by Felix Pedro and Tom Gilmore on July 22, 1902, which led to the establishment of the town of Fairbanks. Residents dress up in costumes of the period. This turn-of-the-century little girl's summer dress was designed by Lee Oates of the Alaska Chapter. The dress and bloomers were made by Carol Ross and the hat was made by her sister, Marie McGlinchy. This costume is made in honor of the many years of service Lee Oates has given to the DAR in Fairbanks. It contains flowers and ribbon from the corsage presented to Honorary State Regent Carol Ross at the 1987 DAR State Conference held in Fairbanks, March 6-8, 1987.
