The Thlingit Princess robe was adapted by Catherine F. Gair from an authentic Thlingit Chief doll made by a Southeastern Indian woman years ago. Most of the original costume had much more beadwork, but buttons were substituted here, a practice also used by the Southeast Indians. The beadwork in the insignia is authentic. Kitty Gair had been a member of Mount Juneau Chapter since 1961 and served in various capacities as officer and chair of committees. Gib Whitehead, Photographer |
